Man of The Match - Alex Mealey🥇
Newcomers Rouse Hill Rams 🔵 were at Bernie Mullane this weekend in what proved to be a tough match for the Kolts. Rams were up for it from minute 1 pressing and chasing their illustrious counterparts. The Kolts created plenty of chances as the half progressed but wasted many. The best chance falling to Kyle Allen, after being played through by skipper Ethan Jones. Unfortunately, his shot was straight at the keeper.
Rams set up in a low block, sat very deep and looked to play on the counter. This meant space was at a premium which forced the Kolts into countless passing errors and general sloppy play. The chaotic weather of rain, wind and freezing cold temps didn’t help with the quality of play either. 0-0 at the break
The 2nd half saw the Kolts exert more control on possession and territory but fail time and time again to make it count. Rams continued to be compact and had the best chances on the counter but wasted them.
A change in style from coach to the now impactful 4-4-2 saw players swapped and changed to double on the Rams CB’s. Alex Mealey proved to be the match winner with his never-say-for attitude and willingness to be direct. He chased a lot of cause and got the better of the Rams defender to find himself 1v1 with the GK. With only 2 minutes left on the clock and the potential of more dropped points Mealey scored superbly to send the Kolts fans and players into hysteria! 1-0⚽️
Mealey was outstanding when introduced. In the 38 minutes on the field, he put in a Man of the Match performance and showed himself to be, yet again, the most impactful player across the squad when introduced. Mealey is having an outstanding season so far.
So, 3 points in the bag and the state at the top table remains the same.
Onto next week where the Kolts take on newcomers Winston Hills.
Until then, BLEED ❤️🖤❤️🖤
