In a tense Match of the Round clash at Valentine Sports Park, Kellyville Kolts were pushed all the way and needed to rally late to snatch a thrilling 2-1 win over Coptic United FC in what was a fiercely contested battle between two determined sides.
Despite Coptic being designated the home team, it was the Kolts who found their stride in the second half. Brent Flavin opened the scoring in the 56th minute with a composed finish, giving Kellyville the edge in a tight encounter.
Coptic United responded in the 77th minute with an equaliser that set up a tense finish. However, Beau Duffy proved the hero for the Kolts, slotting home the winner in the 88th minute to seal all three points.
The match wasn’t without controversy, with both sides reduced to 10 men after red cards were shown for denying clear goal scoring opportunities in separate incidents. The physicality and intensity highlighted the competitive nature of the league and the hunger from both sides to come away with the win.
The victory marks a strong statement from the Kolts early in the season, and they now turn their attention to next weekend, where they will host the Castle Hill Rockets in their first home game of the campaign.

The Kellyville Kolts WPL side put on a dominant display at Bernie Mullane Sports Complex on the weekend, securing a commanding 6-0 victory over Parklea SFC in front of a vibrant home crowd.
From the opening whistle, the Kolts controlled the tempo and were rewarded in the 36th minute when Kevin Opia opened the scoring with a composed finish. The second half saw the floodgates open, as Emma Vannitamby struck twice in quick succession (52’, 56’) to stretch the lead and leave the visitors reeling.
Not to be outdone, Bronte Parker added her own brace with two clinical goals in the 71st and 75th minutes, showcasing the Kolts’ attacking depth and flair. The scoring was rounded out in the 83rd minute by Kevin Opia, who netted her second of the afternoon to seal the emphatic win.
It was a complete team performance from the Kolts, marked by strong defensive discipline, sharp passing combinations, and ruthless finishing. The clean sheet caps off a stellar afternoon at home as the squad continues to build momentum as they look to defend their title.
Player of the Match, as voted by the match officials, was awarded to Team & Club Captain, midfielder Alex Colosimo, who led by example in the middle of the park, orchestrating play with composure, vision, and tireless work rate.
