A brutal, physical top of the table encounter took place at Bernie at the weekend as our beloved PYL took on last year's semi-finalists and arch rivals, Rouse Hill Rams. This game was not for the faint hearted with Rams making their intentions known early with some crunching tackles and high press.
A high energy first half saw Kolts create the better chances but the lack of their usual intensity evaded them, as they went into the break 0-0. After some stern words by coach Conall Tayler, the boys came out firing on all fronts. Their press, intensity and desire to be first to everything improved remarkably and suddenly Rams had few answers to their illustrious counterparts.
The deadlock was broken when a sublime ball by Alex Mealey found tirelessly hardworking Adnan Mušič at the back post. Mušič‘s work rate and never-say-die attitude has won him many admirers this season and he scored a deserved goal.
Unfortunately the cardinal sin in football was complete when, straight after scoring, a lapse in concentration saw Rams equalise from the spot. Needlessly giving away a corner, poor clearances and decision making resulted in the spot kick for the away team which they gladly took
The Kolts pushed and pressed and should have won the game as their high energy football and fitness took control in the final 15 minutes. Kyle Allen was presented with a glorious chance but the prolific forward couldn’t find the net. It was not to be and they had to settle for a share of the spoils. Man of the Match Jake Abbey was sublime in the 2nd half. His intensity and desire to be first to everything set the tone for the rest of the team to follow.
Next up we take a break from league action as the PYL take on Castle Hill United Premier League in the 1st round of the Hills Cup 🏆. Head down and support the boys at Fred Caterson Reserve 7pm Tuesday 2nd May.
Until then, Bleed ❤️🖤❤️🖤

In the 29th minute, the Kolts took the lead through a well-taken goal from Bianca Hogan. The Kolts continued to dominate the game, creating several chances but failing to convert them into goals.
As the game wore on, Winston Hills FC began to get back into the game and started to create chances of their own. With less than five minutes remaining, they were awarded a free kick, which they duly converted to equalise the score.
The Kolts tried to find a late winner, but they were unable to break through the Winston Hills FC defence, and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Despite the disappointment of not securing all three points, the Kolts can take positives from the game, having played positive possession based football for most of the match. Bianca Hogan's goal was a highlight, and the team will look to build on this performance in their next game.
